Slumber Party

I finally had H and G-man over for a slumber party.  We had to cancel the first one that was planned due to a family emergency.    According to S they woke up Saturday morning ready to come to my house then and for the record I was not up at 7 AM.

I picked them up about 5.  The first order of business was to run through the sprinklers.

H had a blast.

G-man thought the water was to cold.

After drying off G-man took over the camera duties.  Though this is the only picture not of the ground or the door. Not the most flattering angle.

We came in to make our own pizzas.

Then we played with bubbles.

I found a 26 piece set and a Cars set.

They got out the play do too.

G-man pulled out my decorative guitar to sing to us while watching Willie Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.

They took over the living room.  I am not sure why their bags and clothes never made it to their room.

I made cinnamon rolls for breakfast Sunday morning.  I was plating them for the boys and turned around to find G-man drinking out of the milk carton.

It was a good night.  I am not going to lie all their energy was exhausting.  But Belle and I will do it again.

Motivation Monday

This one really hits home.  I don't know how this month got a way from me but there were quite a few days I was lucky to get in even a 10 minute video.  But the important thing is I still made sure I did something three days a week.

Motivation Wednesday

I doubt I am the only one needing more motivation after a long weekend.  And for me to burn off the calories from the key lime pie ice cream.

Key Lime Pie Ice Cream

I pulled the recipe out of Southern Living in 2011.  I think it is about time I tried it.

1/2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. cornstarch
1/8 tsp. salt
2 c. milk
1 c. half and half
1 egg yolk
1 tsp. key lime zest
1/3 c. key lime juice
1/2 c. coarsely chopped graham crackers

Whisk together first 3 ingredients in a large heavy saucepan.  Gradually which in milk and half and half.  Cook over medium high heat, stirring constantly, 8 to 10 minutes or until mixture thickens slightly.  Remove from the heat.
Whisk egg yolk until slightly thickened.  Gradually whisk about 1 c.hot cream mixture into yolk.  Add yolk mixture to the remaining cream mixture., whisking constantly.  Whisk in vanilla.
our mixture through a fine wire-mesh strainer into a bowel, discarding solids.  Cool 1 hour stirring occasionally.  Place plastic wrap directly on cream mixture; chill 8 to 24 hours.
Pour mixture into freezer container of a 1 1/2 quart electric mice cream maker and freeze according to manufacturer's instructions.
Stir in 1 tsp. key lime zest, 1/3 c. key lime juice and 1/2 c. coarsely crushed graham crackers halfway through freezing.
Let stand at room temperature 5 to 10 minutes before serving.

The worst part about this recipe is that it has to sit overnight before freezing.  But it was worth the wait.

Parade Time

Friday night was the annual Fourth of July parade.

S, JF, H, and G-man

A better shot.

The boys wanted to continue to ride their bikes after everyone started setting up for picnics.  And getting their spots for a good view for the movie.  This year Frozen was the choice.

July Goals

I can't believe half the year is over already.  I made about half of my goals for the month.  I really slacked the last week in half of the month.  I was feeling terrible by Sunday from not working out or eating well which was a big wake up call.  I did get one cross stitch project finished and came close to  finishing a second one.

July Goals

**  Hit the gym 2 times a week.

**  Complete the Jessica Smith 30 day ab challenge.

** Paint an accent wall in my living room.

**  Read one book (I have hardly read a ting since classes got out).

**  Try one new recipe this month.
