A happy memory

Every this picture pops up in my feed on Pinterest.

I can't help to think this cute little girl looks like a Madame Alexander doll.

I had several growing up.  One of my great grandfathers sent money for my mother and my aunt (I assume their cousins too) money to buy the great-grandchildren presents.  My mother put the money on several Madame Alexander dolls once I hit age six.

I loved blue even as a small kid.

I always dreamed of having Romeo to go with Juliet.  Sadly that didn't ever happen.  I kept these on my dresser until I was in the eighth grade and then got them back out in college.  Sadly that was probably a big mistake as they were some of the items that were taken during a break in at  my parents house my senior year of college.
Every blue moon I check on Ebay to see if I can find ones similar to the three that I had.  I have not found the ones like I had in my price range with their tags still with them.  Yes I am picky as mine had their tags still on their wrists and kept in covers.  But I have found a Scarlett O'Hara, she will have to make up for the generic southern belle one I had.  And I also splurged some bonus money on a set of Cleopatra and Mark Antony set.

I am have started to feel overwhelmed lately.  There has been a lot going on in the last couple of months.  At the end of the month I will have owned my home for ten years and have started realizing the list of things that need to be updated or worked on since last fall.  Well one for even longer, the outside of the house is already in need of being painted.  I was hoping to get that done this year but it is not looking so positive on that side.  I had a few expenses pop up in the fall for my Jeep that took away a good bit of what I was saving to put towards that project.  Who knows maybe I can make it happen by the fall but am not feeling very positive about that happening.  Back in the fall I noticed that the storage room door seemed a little loose and thought okay I will tighten the screws.  Yeah I went to do that and the doorknob fell off there went the motivation to work on it that day and said I would take care of it when I bought another doorknob (yep couldn't' find the screws anywhere) and then never did anything about either.  Big mistake as when I went outside Saturday afternoon with Belle I noticed the door was on the ground.  Just great the door came off the hinges and putting it back up on my own is just not ever going to happen.  I feel like the list is just growing as the hot water heater is taking longer to heat up.  I am so hoping that it is not going out.  I did what my father said and ran the water and then went out to see if the pipe coming out got warm and they do.  Fingers crossed it isn't going out.
I feel like I am drowning in nothing but to do lists as of late.  Between all the household chores and school I don't know the last time I had any fun.  I am determined not to give up my girls weekend this month.  But once those two days are over it is back to a reality full of responsibilities.
It just is not the household responsibilities.  I finally got some answers to some of the health issues I have been having for a couple of years and it is great to finally have answers.   No worries it is not anything life threatening just something that I have to learn to maintain.
I have trouble asking for help.  Not that I would know what it is anyone can help me with at this point.  I have to be the one here to deal with any home repairs but there lies one of the problems the time to be home and deal with any of it.
There have been many nights lately where I just want to sit on my couch and cry because I feel so overwhelmed with all the responsibilities on my plate.  But then I feel like such an idiot for feeling that way.  It is time to think of what I can take off my plate.  I just have to figure out what those items or item will be.  But something has to give so I don't feel so overwhelmed and stressed.

New York City

I spent last week on a business trip to our home office in Danbury, CT.  Thursday night a couple co-workers took myself and the co-worker traveling with me into New York City.  It would be the coldest night of our trip but our thought before going is we could sleep on the plane on the way home instead of being half asleep for meetings.

Random shot down Times Square

The best shot of the ball I could get.

Myself and my co-worker in front of the American flag.  Totally her idea.

It was cold so we didn't walk to far.  I loved exploring this 3 story Toys R Us.

I wish they had a sign saying how long and how many people it took to build some of the items with legos on display.

And because those nephews are into superheros at this moment.

The pictures of Grand Central Station did not turn out well.  Boo!!  We ate at Carmine's which had some amazing Italian food.  We even found an outlet to recharge our cellphones while waiting.

I am glad we went into the city even if my teeth were chattering by the time we got back to Grand Central Station for the trip home.

Motivation Monday

Ruth's pin on Pinterest.

After spending last week traveling for work I need all the motivation I can get.  I did get in all but one workout last week so I am going to work hard to make that up this week.

Baby Gifts

One of my goals this year was to reduce my stress level.  One thing I find relaxing is cross stitching.  So I went looking for a new project to start instead of finishing the three I already had started.  While looking at my Precious Moments books I got the idea to make gifts for my cousins who are set to have babies this year (one has arrived).  It took me a little more than a month to make both.  Then I had to go to Jo-Ann's to find the board to frame them.
Once I had the frames and board I laid out each project with the matting and board to get each piece center them.

It was hard to find cute ones for little boys.  Thankfully our family is full of dog lovers.

Once they were centered I pulled off the paper and pressed the cross stitch onto it.  After doing that I hot glued the extra onto the back of the board.

After seeing both of these framed and next to each other I decided my aunt needed one of her own.  The cousins are sisters and these are the first grandchildren.

March Goals

I  didn't hit my goals in February.  I made it all the way to day 20 of the Fab February challenge.  I got so close and have no real excuse not to have completed it.  And I had one week where I only missed my workout goals for the whole week.  I did manage to keep up with my goal of doing one thing for myself a week.

March Goals

**  3 Cardio workouts a week.

**  2 strength workouts a week.

** 2 morning workouts a week.

**  One thing for myself a week.

I have realized that setting an actual reward for hitting my goals seems to keep me on track.  So if I hit my goals this month I will get a new Painted by Holly print.

Snow day

We finally got a snow day.  More like a sleet, ice and snow day.  Our area has had a threat several times this winter and then got nothing.  I wasn't taking the weather guys seriously this time.  Turns out they were right.  My power started going on and off around 3:00 and then finally stayed off at 6:00.  Thankfully the Entergy crews were on top of it and got it back up today and before it got to cold in the house.

This was around 7 this morning.
I went out to the Jeep at one point to warm up and charge the phone for a bit.

I took this one at 3:30 after a nap.  You can't tell but it is still snowing at this point.
The bad part is that classes were cancelled tonight so my test for this week has been postponed until the Monday after Spring Break.

You know Belle got cold while she was outside tonight when she let me wrap her in blankets.
