Sunset Symphony 2013

One of my favorite parts of living in the Memphis area is the last night of the whole Memphis In May celebration, Sunset Symphony.    This year it was only the symphony playing and we got out a lot earlier because they didn't play as long, so happy about that.  This year besides S and her family we had the families of two of the little boys on H's tball team.  It was a lot of little kids.  But they had so much fun and it really can put a smile on your face watching the kiddos having so much fun.

It would be fun to enjoy it from a boat but that would have to be adults only.  Or we could have a kiddo overboard.

Some parent was smart enough to bring bubbles.  G was having a blast with them.

I got one good shot of H.

A & Z with the youngest in our group N.  A had the right idea with the umbrella, it was really hot when we first got out there.

More fun with bubbles for little A and Miss E.

Being the smallest didn't stop N from jumping in on the pile up game going on.

The boys were having fun piling up on each other over and over again.

H asked to see my camera to take a picture during the air show.  I don't think he realized the camera was not facing up.  Ai then asked if he could take a picture of me.  He got a picture of just my chest so I am not going to post that.

It was a great evening with friends.  I am glad we had some new folks join us this year.  It sure made it more fun for H & G.  And a surprising drink combination we found, lemonade and mandarin orange vodka.

A bit of motivation

I don't know about y'all but I need a bit of motivation to get back into my workouts after the long weekend.  I really slacked on my workouts and eating.

Last week I slacked big time on doing 30 day shred so it is time to get back to it.  Also I have two days left of the 30 day squat challenge.

Dream Trip - The Hamptons

I found a Royal Pains marathon on today and spent the whole day watching the show.  I love that show and can't wait for the new season to start this summer on USA.  But every time I watch the show it makes me want to visit

The beaches look so beautiful. And it is in an area of the country I have never visited.

It would be amazing to stay in one of the grand houses but let's face it that won't happen on my budget.

The show is based on a concierge doctor,Hank, service working in The Hampton's. Hank along with her brother, Evan (who runs the business side) end up living in the guest house of a mysterious wealthy German business man Boris. I enjoy the story lines though I have a hard time deciding each week who's wardrobe I like more the physician's assistance Divya

or Evan's fiancee Paige.

What show has made you want to visit the location it is set in? What are your favorite summer TV shows?

Memorial Day

Today is set aside to remember the men and women that gave the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.

I am very thankful to the men and women who gave their all for my freedoms.

Need a laugh?

This is so Belle when I bathed her. Yes I gave up on trying and take her. I ran out of ways to trick her into the shower and she still runs out of my bathroom when I cut the water on or open the shower door.

We are one day away from a long weekend and I can't wait.

Who doesn't love looking at fashion and finding a new idea of how to wear what is in our closets or before going out to look for an outfit for a special occassion.

I love buying new accessories.  They can really make an outfit.  And I have been buying more in recent years.

Relay for Life

The weather was bad early in the day Friday but thankfully there really wasn't any rain after around 2.  It was decided early by the committee to order in two circus tents to cover the stage and part of the track.  A few teams didn't show up which was a bit sad.  And we had to move from the original location because it was flooded out.  I never did remember to get out my camera so the only pictures I have are from my IPhone.  I also never got a good picture of our campsite.

The kids had a blast playing in the puddles.

Some of the other teams got creative with their holidays.  One team was May the Fourth be with You.  It is hard to tell in this picture but they were playing Star Wars  movies on the screen through the night.

Another team did National Cookie Day.  Not only did they make these cute cookies that the kiddos just had to have or at least I decided that.  They also were wearing Cookie Monster PJ bottoms.

In all these years I have never won anything from the raffle table.  How cool is this guitar for the first one?  Now to get it hung in my home office.

Thanks to my friends, family and co-workers helped me raise $247.

Black Cherry Ice Cream

I saw  a recipe last year in the Food Network magazine for strawberry soda ice cream.  It sounded interesting but I wasn't to sure about it.  I picked up a can of black cherry code from Fresh Market and decided to give it a try.

Black Cherry Ice Cream

1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
1 1/2 c. half and half
3/4 c. black cherry coke
1/2 c. whipping cream

Whisk together condensed milk, half and half, red cherry coke and cream.  Churn it for 20 minutes in the ice cream maker.  Transfer to an airtight container and freeze until firm, at least two hours.

It turned out good.  I don't think this will be one  I will make often.

Sandal Feet

Who doesn't want an easy quick way to get your feet sandal ready.  I am always searching for something on Pinterest as my feet are tickleious and have never been brave enough to get a pedicure.  I tried this one about two weeks ago.

With all the reading I had to do for class it was easy to do.  I mixed up the apple cider vinegar and Epsom salt in a tub and sat down to work on one of the readings.  I tried another one last year but it did not seem to work as well as this one.  I will be using this one more often.

Kudzu Debutantes

I am not sure where I heard about this book but I am glad  that I did.  It was one of the first books I requested from the library last week to start reading once my final was over.

The book takes place in Ithaca, Georgia and revolves around three ladies in their early forties, Eadie, Lavonne, and Nita.  These three ladies are married to a set of law partners.  And are going through a time dealing with their husbands.  Eadie's husband has finally left her for his young secretary, Lavonne is realizing being a stay at home mom with teenagers is not fulfilling, and Nita is dealing with a very controlling husband.  After the annual firms party and late night of drinking when Eadie has realized that Trevor is really not coming back this time.  Nita starts to looking at the photo album from the previous years men's hunting trips and the ladies notice that their are random pieces of women's clothing in the pictures and realize all these years that the men had been cheating on them.  They come up with a revenge plan that will take place while they are gone.

The town of Ithaca has become a place for executives to move to from Atlanta.  In response to the old guard not allowing many purple of the new people into their social circle and daughters presented as debutantes a  group gets together to start a group and decided to have their own debutante party and crown a Kudzu Queen each year.  Unlike a normal debutante the queen is a lady in her 40s and must pick for their escort must be at least 10 years younger.  And this year they have picked Lavonne as their queen.  Her husband demands that she decline and not ruin his reputation.

The books is a quick read and will make you laugh out loud.  I can't wait to read the second one in the series and hope their will be more to come in the series.

A bit of organization

For the last couple of months the clutter on my bathroom vanity and in the drawer have been driving me crazy.  Not to mention I was tired of digging through my bag on the days I wear makeup.  I started thinking of ways to do something about it.  I went and looked around Lowe's for drawer organizers and found a great set with out 10 pieces of different sizes.

Vanity before

Vanity drawer before.

I forgot to get a shot of my vanity but it is so much cleaner with just a couple items on it I need everyday.

My vanity drawer after.  So far it is working pretty well.  Next I need to start going through everything and throwing out what I don't need.

This was my first project over the weekend to tackle.  I have a few more that I really need to start on but that will have to wait until After Relay for Life this weekend.

Delta wedding

Last weekend I headed down into the Delta for a wedding.  My ZTA big sis W got married in her hometown.  It was my first trip to Greenville.  A couple of us turned it into a mini girls weekend.  I didn't realize how much I needed one.  I laughed so hard that my cheeks and abs were still hurting Monday.  The sad part is I lost a few pictures I know I took or were taken, the worst was the one of W & I.

SB, R, CC, J, and myself at the reception.

PB relaxing at the reception.

The reception was at the cultural arts center which houses a carousal in one part of the building.  We could ride the carousal and make up candy bags in that room.  Such a fun thing especially for the kids there.

W & R.

The going away car and the happy couple leaving.  I had a hard time telling if it was Slow Dixie or From Dixie with Love they were leaving too.  I only caught a strand or two here and here from where I was standing.

After the reception we went back to the room and changed for dinner.  I am glad we had our arms twisted into going.  It was a great time with friends but sadly our two groups weren't even seated in the same room.

The steaks put a couple people into comas.  ha!

After we left Doe's we headed to a blues bar.  And these little goodies were given out.  For the first time I liked gummy bears.
