Brain Jumble

*** I have figured out a way to save a bit of money. Go to Target between work & class so I don't have time to wonder and pick up stuff I don't need. Score one for the pocketbook.

*** I wish I had the money for a spring break trip. I never took one the first time in college.

*** I am still playing catch up on all my laundry and cleaning after a boil water alert. That really put a crimp on my long weekend plans. And it is crazy what you have to do after one of those ends.

*** This weather is insane. We are in the 70a again today and by Friday we will have a high in the 30s. I heard a chance of snow flurries yesterday predicted for the end of the week but it looks like that has been taken out.

*** I have to write three short papers in my history class this semester. It has been at least 12 years since I wrote a paper. I need a major refresher on how to document sources.

Five Minute Mousse

I found this recipe in a magazine add a couple years ago.  I don't know now if it was for Jello or Cool Whip. It is so quick and delicious.  Not to mention good to waist line.

Five Minute Mousse

1 pkg (4 serving) Jello chocolate fat and sugar free pudding mix
1 1/2 c. skim milk
fat free Cool Whip

Beat package of pudding with wire whisk into 1 1/2 c. milk for 1 minute.  Stir in 2 c. thawed cool whip.  Spoon into dessert dishes.  Refrigerate until ready to serve.
Garnish as desired.

I have used the white chocolate pudding mix with the strawberry cool whip and that is amazing too.

Spring Inspiration

After the cold week we had which included ice I have started thinking of spring.   And what cute outfits I might be able to get into if I keep my workouts up.

Belle doesn't get sad about going to the vet until we get in the door. Then she tries to run back out before the door closes.

I need to get this printed out and hang on the fridge.  Will I get this body?  No but it is a reminder I am working towards getting back into a bikini.  And quite a few items hanging in my closet collecting dust.  I have done well so far this year with working towards my get healthy goal.  The first week I didn't get in a single workout but I did well at eating.  The last two weeks I have gotten in four cardio workouts and two strength workouts.  Having two great friends keeping me in line helps.

Dead End Job Mystery

I came across a series of books called the Dead End Job Mysteries.  There are ten total in the series at this point by Elaine Viets.

The stories are based around Helen who is on the run from the law.  Okay it is nothing serious she came home one day to find her dead beat husband in bed with a neighbor.  After catching them she took a crow bar to his Land Rover.  After that they filed for divorce and the judge split the assets and then awarded her husband half of her earnings for the rest of her career.  To keep him from getting to that she takes off from St. Louis and eventually makes it to South Florida living in the Coronado Apartments taking on dead end jobs and being paid off the books.
In the first book Shop Til You Drop, Helen is working at a high end exclusive dress shop when the general manager turns up dead.  Helen takes it upon herself to find out who the killer is because she thinks the detective is not concerned about the case.
The second book has Helen working at a bookstore when the owner is murdered.  The body turns up in her neighbor Peggy's bed while the apartment is being tented for termites.  Helen is determined to prove her friend did not commit the murder.
Helen's partners in finding the killer in both mysteries are her friend Sarah and land lady Margery.  The cast of characters is entertaining.  Margery is in her 70s and always dressed in purple.  She acts like a mother to most of the tenants at the Coronado.  Peggy is receptionist who owns a Pete the parrot (though the rules say no pets are allowed this is ignored by Margery).  Phil the pothead who lives next door and is never seen by Helen.  Cal the Canadian who doesn't have a nice thing to say about America yet spends half the year in Florida.
I have only read the first two in the series so far but they are cute with a touch of mystery.  Just what I need or will need when classes start back up.
What have y'all been reading lately?

Library Addict

It is no secret I love to read.  I spent a lot of time at the library since I don't have it in my budget to buy all the books I want to read or the space for them in my house to store them.  Since finding out the library also has cookbooks I have checked out quite a few.  While off on break from classes I have requested quite a few books and spending a lot of extra time reading (cold temps make it so I want to curl up with a book all day).  One of the lovely librarians noticed I had not checked out any cookbooks recently and when she saw a book I requested arrived from another library the same day some new cookbooks were ready to go out she put those back for me.  I love that they know me so well up there and it couldn't come at a better time.  I am wanting to try out some new recipes.  So this weekend okay tonight I started exploring these two

Ice Ice Sucks

Now that y'all have the song Ice Ice Baby stuck in your heads and if not you do now.  For the second day in a row Memphis is getting icy weather.  Yesterday we got a good bit of sleet and I left early to miss as much as possible on the road.  I got home and the gate was already frozen good thing I didn't have much garbage to go out today.  MB came and got me so neither would be alone if the weather got bad again today.  The shock was that the office closed at noon due to the risk of the icy conditions and now some snow.  Ugh!

By the time I got home a little after 1 my Jeep had turned into a sheet of ice.

All of this after having 70s on Saturday.

I have no idea what I am going to do with all this extra time today at home.  But I am sure napping will be on the list.

The Rebels went bowling yesterday.  The team played in the BBVA Compass Bowl in Birmingham.

The team looked great.

And our band blew Pitt's out of the water.

Without the sun out it was really cold.  But S & I still had a blast.

S, JF, and I went to Birmingham Friday night and stayed with my cousins L & J.  It was a great group of people staying.  L & J had a friend come to town to introduce his girlfriend.  We were up until 2 AM drinking and talking.

We did leave the game at the end of the third quarter and got to the car just minutes before it started raining.

The Rebels ended Coach Freeze's season with a win in a bowl.  I am so proud of the team and can't wait to see what will happen in the fall.

What would you choose?

I saw this on Pinterest last week.  So what would your choice be?  I know which mine would be, the library.  But it would have to be a really big library so that it would take me a long time before I read all the books and had to start over.  While the museum and zoo are both great places I think I would get bored faster at those places than a library.  I have loved books since I was a kid and still keep at least one on my nightstand.

January Goal

I am ready to write the book on 2013. I can't wait for what the year brings. Though I will admit I am a bit nervous about taking two classes at a time this semester. But I have 3 weeks to get ready for that and get a into some kind of routine.

My goals for this month is to start getting into a workout routine. I started loving hitting the gym again last month. Now to keep that feeling going this month, especially with how crowded the place will be this month. My new work schedule should help with that though fitting in mornings will probably not be happening.
I am going to start using Sparkpeople to log my food and workouts starting tomorrow. I need something to keep me on track this month. I am not always good when I use it about logging all my meals I always seem to leave one out. But I love seeing the calories I burned during a workout.
Until classes start I am going to use my downtime to catch up on Some reading.
I have had a hard time coming up with a reward for hitting my goals for January. I finally came up with buying a new book not sure which one yet.
What is your goals for Jnuary?

Ready Set 2013

I am not sad to see 2012 end.  I am ready to see what 2013 will bring.  I have a couple dreams of what I want to happen and hopefully a couple will happen.

2013 Goals

*** Work on being healthier.
I am going to get back into the gym on a regular basis.  I am still trying to figure out how to do it and get in school.  I also want to start eating healthier and get a few things under control.

*** Take some me time.
Work on my long list of books to read, cross-stitch or work on my scrapbook.

*** Work on the house.
There are a few things that need to be done around the house.  For one have more space floored in the attic.  And then go through and throw out or donate items.
