A little fun

Since my family is coming to my house for Christmas there are quite a few calls going back and forth for about gifts. As in what I need you to go buy so we don't have to bring it with us. They seem to forget I have a job and some days call at least three times while I am at work. So I decided to have a little fun with my mother's from daddy. She is already stressing me about how much he spent. I told her from $160 to $500. I let daddy in on it so he wrote $4,000 in the checkbook for the amount of the check he sent me. She is more nosy about gifts than my brother or I ever thought to be. So yes being the smarta**es we are we are having fun. So I added to it when I wrapping tonight.

I wrapped the gift and noticed there was a box it fits in.

And a second one.

Well I had nothing else to put in this one really big box

Christmas morning will be fun.  She is either going to be totally irritated by this or thinking she is getting jewelry by the last box.

Stockings

I picked up some new stockings over the weekend that I saw at Lowe's.  I don't know now what my goal was in going to Lowe's but I walked out with stockings.  But now that I have pulled out the ones I have had for years I am not sure which ones I like better.

These are my old ones.

Or

The New ones

Football Weekend

I can't believe it is the last full week of college football.  Where has the year gone?  This is the best week of the year though Rivalry week.  I am hopeful that the Golden Egg will stay in Oxford Saturday.

Stromboli Wraps

I was looking for a good thing to pull out for football.  I pulled out an old one that I have not had in a long time.

Stromboli Wraps

4 mission zesty garlic herb wraps
1/3 c. butter or margarine, softened
6 tbsp. shredded Parmesan cheese
4 oz provolone cheese, thinly sliced
4 oz salami, thinly sliced
4 oz ham, thinly sliced
1/2 c. (4 oz) jar roasted bell peppers, rinsed & cut into strips
4 oz mozzarella cheese, shredded
Mariana or pizza sauce, heated

Heat oven to 400°
Lightly spread one side of each wrap with softened butter; sprinkle with 1 tbsp. Parmesan.  Arrange one fourth each of provolone, salami, ham and roasted peppers over center of wraps, leaving border around edges.  Sprinkle each wrap with one fourth of mozzarella.
Fold up "wrap fashion" Place seam side down on non-stick baking sheet.  Brush with remaining butter:  sprinkle with remaining Parmesan.  Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.  Slice each Stromboli on the diagonal.  Serve with marinara or pizza sauce, if desired.

I have not been able to find the zesty garlic wraps in a long time.  I have used the jalapeno cheddar wraps and it turns out great.  But last night I couldn't find either so I just used the wheat ones I had at home.

Musings

** I am trying to decide if I want to go darker with my highlights when I get them done Saturday.

** I am loving my new IPhone. Now to get used to typing around the Otterbox.

** It drives me crazy to see 'Merica on stuff. It is America or USA

** I am jealous of people who got I voted stickers. We don't get them in Mississippi.

**  I am already over the cold temps.  Can we just stay in the 60s until June?

**  I am excited that this weekend will be the last time I have to mow the yard this year.

** I am glad to have almost half my Christmas shopping done.

**  I may have my shopping done but I still don't know what I want for either Christmas or my Birthday.

**  I love that Nordstrom is waiting until after Thanksgiving to decorate for Christmas.  I would love it if more store would follow their lead.

Cajun Chex Party Mix

I found this recipe in an ad for chex when I was in college.  It has been a while since I made it and this weekend I couldn't get it out of my head so I picked up the couple things I needed.  This was pretty much all I ate after breakfast Saturday.  Though I still wonder how you call it a party mix when the actual recipe only calls for three types of chex.

Cajun Chex Party Mix

1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. celery salt
1 tbsp. parsley flakes
1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
4-8 drops of hot pepper sauce
1 tsp. garlic powder
2 2/3 c.(each) wheat, corn, rice chex cereal

In a 3 1/2 quart microwave bowl melt butter on high one minute.  Stir in parsley, celery salt, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, and pepper sauce; mix well.  Gradually add cereal, stirring until all pieces are evenly coated. Cook on high 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 minutes, stirring every 1 1/2 minutes.  Cook an additional 1 1/2 minutes.  Spread an absorbent paper towel to cool.  Store in an air tight container.

My favorite way to have chex mix is with Cheerios, pretzels and peanuts.  I also add a whole teaspoon of cayenne pepper and at least twice as much Tabasco than is called for.  While the recipe is good I like mine spicy so I add the extra kick.

Trunk or Treat

I am a bit behind on blogging.  Last Saturday was Trunk or Treat on the Square.  It was a really chilly evening so the movie planned for afterwards was nixed.

S and H trying to stay warm.  And this was before the treating started.

Mrs. P didn't get into decorating this year.  But we still had fun handing out candy.  And keeping kids from taking off with the spiders and skulls from the wheelbarrow.

The best shot I could get of G.  He was a Teenage Ninja Turtle minus the shell as he hated having it on.
