Water Tower Festival

I spent last weekend hanging out at the Water Tower Festival.  Okay I was actually volunteering with it.  My friend M who stayed Friday night and I were dealing with beer and ice sales.  I came home both nights smelling full of BBQ smoke as we spent most of our time back in the area where the teams were located.

Friday night there were three local music acts along with the first rounds of the BBQ competition.

We used one of the law offices on the square as an office over the weekend.  I thought this sign was to funny.

Saturday afternoon there was an arts & crafts show, car show and a kids area.

I thought this was pretty cute setting the dolls up.  A female one was sitting in the passenger seat.

I didn't get a great shot of this yard sign but it says the official bear hunter.

S had two little helpers driving her around for a bit.

BBQ teams lining up to find out the winners.

I only had my IPhone so I couldn't get a good picture of Craig Morgan Saturday night.

Pumpkin Art

I got a few moments to sit down and work the crafting goal I gave myself for the month.  I picked up a few small pumpkins on a grocery store run and decided to paint them.  It took a couple days to get them finished.

It took two coats of  paint to get them covered as much as I wanted.

I had to do one for Breast Cancer awareness month.

And since founder's day is in October I did a ZTA one.

For my Rebels!!

They look pretty cute on my table.  And I haven't had time to figure out where to put them outside.

One Dish Blackberry French Toast

Water Tower Festival weekend was this weekend.  My friend M stayed me with me Friday night instead of driving back to West Memphis.  So I took the opportunity to try out a breakfast recipe.  I got this one from Southern Living.

One Dish Blackberry French Toast

1 c. blackberry jam
1 (12 oz) French bread loaf, cut into 1 1/2 inch cubes
1 (8 oz) pkg 1/3 less fat cream cheese cut into 1 inch cubes
4 large eggs
2 c. half and half
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
toppings: maple syrup, whipped cream

Cook jam in a small saucepan over medium heat 1 to 2 minutes or until melted and smooth, stirring once.

Place half of bread cubes in bottom of lightly greased 13 x 9 inch baking dish.  Top with cream cheese cubes,

and drizzle with melted jam.

 Top with remaining bread cubes.

Whisk together eggs and next 3 ingredients.

 Pour over bread mixture.

Sprinkle with brown sugar.

Cover tightly, and chill 8 to 24 hours.  Preheat oven to 325°.  Bake, covered, 20 minutes.  Uncover and bake 10 to 15 minutes or until bread is golden brown and mixture is set.  Serve with desired toppings.

M gives it a thumbs up.

I only had syrup for a topping.  I tried mine with and without it and either way was amazing.  I used sugar free blackberry jam and fat free cream cheese.  It was very filling way to start off a long day.

Homecoming Weekend

Yesterday Ole Miss celebrated Homecoming by playing Auburn.  I have always wondered what the person is thinking when they pick the homecoming opponent and decide on another SEC team.  Because as we all know you never know what is going to happen when two SEC teams play each other.  But if they had to pick a year for us to play Auburn this was the year. (Sorry Auburn fans)

I didn't get to Oxford early enough to catch the Walk of Champions but I did get to see a bit of the band pep rally on the stage.

R and I in the stadium.

Just a play during the game.

My IPhone camera isn't the best.  But that scoreboard says Ole Miss 41 Auburn 20.  The Rebels broke their 2 year streak of no SEC wins.  So prefect that it happened on Homecoming.

A group of friends hanging out in the Grove.

And the best part was celebrating the win with Beth's dad in the Grove.  Sadly her mother was at the condo and I missed seeing her.

Vince Gil did the Are you Ready?  before the game started.  I still think that was a random choice.  Can't we find a famous alum to schedule for Homecoming or have the team and coaches do it?

October Goals

September flew by and with it any chance of hitting the goals I set.  I did manage to get in several workouts that totalled up to 250 minutes according to Sparkpeople.  So I guess I didn't do shabby with that goal especially considering I went on vacation last month.

October Goals

**  Three 30 minute cardio workouts a week

** Two strength workouts a week

** Crafting for a hour a week.

**  Study for 30 minutes a day.

**  Start on Christmas shopping

**  Put out a few Halloween decorations.

What are  your goals for October?

Happy Monday!!!

Happy Monday!!!  I can't believe this is also the start of October.  The only good thing is Memphis weather is having its first day for boots and sweaters.
