Gotta love it

I am cold natured. I have never hidden this fact. I have worked in the same office for 10 years and in the same general area and even then places are colder than others. Most of joke around about leaving the building in the summer to thaw out. I guess some in the management office (which is onsite) realized yesterday after lunch that the 100 degree days are starting early. They were doing something in an area near me. Well this morning we come in to my side of the floor is like a meat locker. While the opposite side is like a sauna. No lie I have been wrapped up in a blanket I keep in my cube and the space heater going and can't get warm. All this dust they are kicking up has got to be what is causing my sinuses to go crazy since yesterday afternoon.
Good thing the ice cream party was yesterday. Though the break room is on the sauna side so I might just need to go and see what we have left when I go back in from lunch.

Here is to hoping all of our weeks go well enough that we don't need the top line.

Gang of Outlaws

Tuesday night was girls night out.  S got of some tickets to the Gang of Outlaws concert.  They were lawn tickets at Snowden Amphitheatre.  We got a great spot on the lawn when we got there after stuffing ourselves full of Mexican food.  There were five us who went.  Mrs. P, P, and D.

Our spot was great for seeing the performances but not so great for pictures.
Gretchen announced during her performance that she had started her own record label.  Redneck Records.

This was the best shot I could get of 3 Doors Down.  And about all I saw of the show.  During their performance and ZZ Top everyone in front of us was standing up.

The best part of the show ZZ Top.  We only stayed through half of their show.  D had hurt her knee and didn't want to get stuck in the crowd leaving.

S & I

When we were leaving I got a look at the bike, Citizen Soldier 5 (the link will take you to the site to buy a ticket), that 3 Doors Down are actioning off for their Better Life Foundation.  It is a custom built by Bourgets Bike Works in Biloxi, MS.

It was a great night out.  And I got to go to a concert this summer.

Chocolate Peanut Cup Ice Cream

I picked up whipping cream instead of half and half when I was making the Lemon Icebox Ice Cream.  I had to use it before it expired.  I have been craving chocolate a lot lately.

Chocolate Peanut Cup Ice Cream

I used a basic chocolate ice cream recipe
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 bag mini Reece's peanut butter cups

I chopped up the mini peanut butter cups.

I added the chopped peanut butter cups in the last 5 minutes in the mixer.

The ice cream turned out heavenly.

Multiples II

I worked on cleaning up my Pinterest boards a bit this weekend.  I found several items in my fashion boards on there at least twice.

No lie this one was on my board 4 times.

Lemon Meringue Pie Milkshake

I picked up Bobby Flay's Burgers, Fries, and Shakes cookbook a couple weeks ago from the library.  While many of the burgers sound amazing this milkshake really stuck out to me.  It will be a great thing to make while the parents are visiting next month as Lemon Meringue Pie is my father's favorite desert.

Lemon Meringue Pie Milkshake

1/4 c. whole milk
1 tbsp. grated lemon zest, plus more for garnish (optional0
2 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
3 heaping tablespoons store bought lemon curd
11 oz. premium vanilla ice cream (about 1 3/4 packed cups)
fluffy whipped cream
Pizzele Cookie for garnish

Combine the milk, lemon zest, lemon juice, and lemon curd in a blender and blend for 5 seconds.  Add the ice cream and blend until smooth, about 10 seconds.  Top the shake with fluffy whipped cream, some lemon zest and a pizzelle Cookie, if desired.

Makes 1 16 oz or 2 oz milkshakes

I can't wait to try this next month if I can hold out that long.

Brain Dump

** I have not been very inspired lately.  Work is killing me.  But then it is our busy season.

** I really want to to go see Gone with the Wind at The Orpheum in August.  Who wants to go with me?

**  I really need a weekend out of Memphis but don't know where to go or where the money is going to come from.

** I need to figure out an outfit for a 40th Birthday party this weekend.

** I am sad to know that shortly the last season of The Closer will be starting on TNT.

** I found my book bag this weekend.  The bad part it was in a container with some mothballs and needs some major airing out before I use it in the fall.

** I am turning into a klutz.  I keep knocking things over and making a mess.  And I have at least one bruise at all times these days from knocking into things.

**  I really wish Martie would go home on The Next Food Network Star.  She really annoys me and I thought it would happen tonight but she managed to scrape by yet again.

Mask It

I found this recipe for a facial mask while reading the June issue of Self magazine.

Strawberry Mask

Mash 3 strawberries in a bowl with 1 tbsp. of cornstarch and 1 tbsp. of milk.  Rinse off after 10 minutes.

It says that the acid in the strawberries clears pores and milk softens skin.

Okay I might have taken a bit of a lazy route.  I put it all in my small food processor.  By the time the 10 minutes were up it was really tight on my face.  And my face does feel softer after taking it off.  Now let's hope it will clear my pores because my face has been breaking out like it did in high school again.

The last couple weeks have been really tough at work.  I have not had much to laugh about these days.  That is until I saw this pin from one of my friends on Pinterest.

I don't know why but it had me laughing for at least 5 minutes.  Thanks Susan I really needed that tonight.

Friday Quotes

This is so true even if the thought of losing Belle scares me at this point.

This really stuck with me.

This quote really hits home due to several things that have been on my mind and going through.

I know deep thoughts for the start of a weekend.
